Kart racing or karting is a variant of open-wheel motorsport using small, open, four-wheeled vehicles called karts, go-karts, or gearbox/shifter karts with races typically held on scaled-down circuits. Karting is commonly perceived as an entry level to motorsports and the stepping stone to the higher ranks of competition such as FIA Formula Ford, Formula Vee, Formula 4 and so on.
Kart racing is generally accepted as one of the most economical forms of four-wheel motorsport available. Karting is regulated by the FIA (under the name of CIK) and accepts participants starting as young as the age of 8.
Since the sport is affordable, karting is a perfect venue for learning the basics about competition racing, vehicle setup and engine tuning. Whether you have aspirations to become a professional race car driver or you just like the technology of racing, karting is a fun, friendly, exciting and competitive sport for everyone to enjoy.
