Type of Rule ChangeModification
Section to be Added or Changed23.4.2
Current Regulation

American Racer shall be the spec tire for dry, 1 new set of tires maximum per weekend. Should the American Racer spec tire not be available from the local supplier by March 1, competitors may use Hoosier R60A or harder compound tires until the American Racer tires are available. Racers must register Hoosier tires (one set at a time) with CACC officials and may continue to use these tires after American Racers become available from the local supplier.

Proposed Regulation

Hoosier R60A shall be the spec tire for dry, 1 new set of tires maximum per weekend. Racers must register Hoosier tires (one set at a time) with CACC officials.

Reason for Rule Change

The Hoosier R60A compound tyre is an all round better option as it offer a good price with a long lasting quality tyre. Running the Hoosier as the spec tyre will also allow more consistency between SCCA, WCMA, and NWFC drivers to participate in the CACC championship. This in turn will yield a generally larger field of Formula Continentals. This will also enable Canadian drivers who are interested in running the Pacific F2000 series, or any other SCCA events, to easier move back and forth between CACC events and those based in the US. This will naturally grow the regularly appearing group, and yield more sponsorship and promotional opportunities as Hoosier supports and benefits from a class using their product.

Product availability is also a major reason to switch over to the Hoosier brand tyre. It is easier as a racer to have the convenience of the product, which can be obtained from a number of suppliers. I feel that the American Racer tyre are hard to obtain half way, or to the end of the season.

In conclusion, the Hoosier R60A tire should be the spec tyre considered for the 2025 season as the product offers high reliability and quality that is conveniently available to our racers. The implementation of the Hoosier spec tyre will also allow more consistency across Wester Canada, as well as the SCCA, so that we can run larger fields of Formula Continental which will yield exciting and rewarding experiences for drivers and race fans.
